About Us

Troop 857 has a long and rich history of over 45 years in the community.  We are chartered through Northminster Presbyterian Church in Finneytown, Ohio.  (http://www.northminsterchurch.net/)  Our Troop is proud to have Scouts from several school districts in Springfield Township and beyond, with young men attending high schools such as Finneytown, St. Xavier, Roger Bacon, and Walnut Hills.

Troop 857 has a strong outdoor program.  In addition to monthly campouts, our recent summer high adventure trips include backpacking at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, canoeing at Great Smoky Mountains National Park, backpacking at Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park and sea kayaking at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Northern Michigan, camping at Glacier National Park in Montana, and canoeing at Montreal River in Ontario, Canada.

Advancement is also important at Troop 857.  Over 150 young men have earned the Eagle Scout rank from troops sponsored by Northminster Presbyterian Church dating back to 1961, including 68 scouts from Troop 857.  We attend a week of scout camp every summer at Camp Friedlander where our Scouts work on rank advancement and earn merit badges.  And many of our scouts attend Merit Badge Challenge each winter where they can earn up to 3 merit badges including many of those required for Eagle.

Troop 857 meets every Tuesday night from 7 pm - 8:30 pm throughout the school year at Northminster Presbyterian Church.  Our meetings are held downstairs under the sanctuary. Come check us out, we'd love to have you join the adventure!!
